Dr. Blackwell is a fellowship trained breast surgeon. She is originally from Panama City, FL and attended the University of Florida graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1996. In 2002 she graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dr. Blackwell completed her general surgery residency training at Louisi­ana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2007. She followed her surgery training with a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Blackwell joined Associates in General and Vascular Surgery after completing her fellowship in 2008.

She is board certified in general surgery, a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Breast Diseases and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
